Do any of you know when the Dutch 4X will start this year? Last year there were three races at Groningen Bikepark, all were great events. On the website of Bikepark.nl I've read the track currently is undergoing maintenance, but there's nothing to be found about this years 4X program. Any of you guys know?
i heard from Martijn from free wheelz that there will be two 4x races in June and september.I was yesterdag at the 4x track for a whole day off riding and the track has more flow in the upper section off the track, that's where the start is.Personly i like it way better than the rythem section and now it's pedal to the metal now.
Anyone been there? What's happening, interest is decreasing by the season. I've been there today, but it was somewhat disappointing. Hope next time will be better.
wll not really related to biking or 4x racing and i 'm canadian witha a dutch background and all i can say is "GO NETERLANDS GO!!" for Euro Cup. Me and my friends who are also all have dutch background have been wearing the netherlands jerseys everywhere we go(church, school the mall, riding of course!!!!)
Lack of promotion probably has something to do with it. I'm sure there's a small core group of riders that have a strong interest in 4X but to see growth, new people need to be pulled into it from other disciplines. Most mtb'rs that I've seen here are XC type or roadies riding dirt for cross training, perhaps unaware of such an animal as 4X. Maybe something can be done to draw in some bmx'rs, for such a small country, bmx racing is flourishing here and 4X would be a great step in progression. I would suggest to promote the event on other media sources other than just their own website (the Bikepark Groningen one). And there's probably several riders out there that would like to try it but not in a serious competition format. Maybe to go along with the regular races, have challenge heats, fun runs, or something, make it a little less pressured. Who knows.
Hey some nice photos you have. was a little surprised to see some bmx's there, but then again, i've seen a couple mtb's at bmx races. is that place open all the time, like we can just show up and ride that course?

That's what I was thinking as well; a serious lack of promotion. Over at mountainbike.nl I haven't found ANY topic concerning last weekend's Dutch Fourcross competition. It would have been very easy for someone from the organization to just create a topic and make riders in Holland aware of this event. They're able to attract a Kona support stand, organise a great barbecue, but aren't able to attract spectators, nor to attract plenty of competitors.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very pleased to have this event in the North, but the promotion really lacks. As does the planning. The time schedule is way too much spread over the day. In practise however, they hardly follow the schedule, which is confusing for the spectating crowd. I like your ideas on making the event more accessible. My advice would be; much more promotion on the internet (e.g. forums) and a better time schedule.

I enjoyed your post konaredneck. Great that you guys are showing off your jerseys everywhere! The Euro Cup has been awesome thusfar! Excellent football and the atmosphere in Switzerland is great! Are you looking forward to the quarter final match this weekend as well?
well i'm happy that the bikepark groningen crew is pulling great race events like the 4x series every time. The amound off riders was enough for this race and the weather wasn't that great either imo(could be way better).Last year the first race head almost double as much riders because it was hot, beautifull cristal clear blue sky and lot's off crowed to watch the race and then pro class riders where racing from Holland and germany.I realy enjoyed watching those cruizer bmx bikes vs the 4x bikes on the track and the national bmx race team riders took 1st and 2nd place on the podium stage .Let's hope the 2nd 4x race is having more riders and crowed that would be nice.
A bit late, but at the time the race was held I enjoyed a well deserved holiday in some south european country. Hopefully I can ride the next reace which would be in september, right?
Not that I'm any good, but hey, just to fill the starting line you need people too. So let's hope for some good weather and lot's of bikers.
