Buying bolts on the internet - how do I know compatability?

So i've been seeing ti bolts pop up on ebay alot and this is an example of it

Made of 6Al-4V TitaniumAlloy.
Rust and corrosion free.
Bar clamp: Qty of 4 Allen Head M5x15mm
Steerer clamp: Qty of 2 Allen Head M5x15mm.
Socket size: 4mm (use 4mm Allen key)
Head diameter: 8.50mm
Bolt size: 5mm
Head height:5mm
Bolt length without Head: 15mm
Total Bolt length with Head: 20mm.
Thread pitch is 0.80mm.
Purple anodized.
Include free: Ti-Prep anti-seize Lubricant.


so uh....... whats it all mean??? how do I know which parts it will fit?

You have to measure YOUR bolts to find that out. Get a mm ruler/caliper and a thread gauge out.

why dont you just go to a hard ware store with your wheel, or whateveryou need the bolt for, and find one that fits?

lol, a few grams, wont make that much of a difference. If I cared about weight, i wouldn't be riding a 50 + pound DH bike.

M6x20 is a 6mm bolt 20mm long. That only works for metric.


Different from a standard bolt designation like a 1/4x20, which is the diameter and thread pitch instead of length.

um, you probably should care what its made of.


*hey, lets go down to the local bolt store in lego land and pick up a few bolts 4 our stems. We can even get some fancy blue lego bolts for our linkage
