Place chainwhip on the largest cog of the cassette, put the lockring tool in and turn anti clockwise, whilst engaging drive with the chainwhip.

chainwhip isn't really necessary either, I've done it just using an old broken chain, but you have a better chance at cutting your hands up.

i just took an old sock, wrapped it around the cassette and held it.
