My rear Krad blew up while airing it today so I'm gonna buy a Small Block 8 to replace it since I like the feel of them. I still have a 26 x 2.3 Krad up front so I'm not sure what size of sb8 to run in the rear; the choices are 26 x 1.95, 2.1, or 2.35. Do you guys run a smaller tire in the rear or is that mostly only for trails? I know that the smaller I go I'm gonna save a bit of weight but I'm more concerned about the feel and functionality of the tires than a couple grams. Suggestions? Thanks

I'm running 2.1 SB8's and they feel fine but I think anything under 2.1 is going to feel weird. The 2.1 weighs around 500g i believe

i run a 2.1 in the back and a 2.35 in the front. i like it. lighter, less rotational mass, and a little more to corner on in the front

DJ bike-2.25 rear 2.4 front!

DH bike-Dual 2.5 Cool

But tread pattern wise....grippier tyres are on the front of both bikes.

2.3 on the front for nice steady handling
2.1 at the back for quick accelleration and because my frame cant take much moreJoker

So it sounds like I should get the 2.1 for the rear with my 2.3 on the front, since the 1.9 might be too small in the back and I probably shouldn't get the 2.35 and end up with a bigger in the rear than the front. Agree?

Yeah, I've had (and preferred) a 2.3 on the front and 2.1 in the rear. With my newer (old) wheels I can't seem to get a 2.1 on the back anymore, so I've got 2.3 on both ends. Those darn Mavic D321s. Awesome wheels tho!!!
