Well, if you've made it this far, I congratulate you. I'm going to college next year for photography and videography, and I need to get a portfolio together, so any input would be greatly appreciated!

I think you need more variation in your pictures. I think it would be better to have a little bit of everything instead of only a few things. You've got too many shots that I also don't think are worthy of being printed for a portfolio. Sorry if it's harsh, but that's my opinion.

Did they request you only show certain pictures, or are all of the images up to your decision?

Awesome pictures although the one with a guy on his bike in the foreground on some grass and a big hill in the back looks very fake. If you look at the top of the mountain it looks like some Photoshop mess up. I'm not saying it IS fake, but i could definitely see if it is.

Hey man no worries, I respect anyones opinion, I wouldn't have posted on here if I I didn't. One question, what do you mean my having a little bit of everything instead of only a few things? Basically I need to get the pictures I like, that show who I am. I picked a few from over the summer, and a few that I took within the past couple weeks. This is my first digital camera, and I've been doing photography for a purpose I suppose for less than a year. Appreciate the feedback!!

MOBz, this photo was photoshoped, I just lowered the exposure in the sky to make it seem darker, and you can definitely tell by the tree line, haha.

mark1624, the exposure for this pic was 30sec I believe, believe it or not, that is a real meteor, I was extremely lucky I guess.

Well seeing as they want you to show pictures that would show what type of person you are, then I guess those will do. When I say variation, I mean a few action, a few portraits, architecture.. so on.

Oh okay, I see what your saying. I completely agree, all the shots I have are mostly stationary, I need some movement or action as you said. Thanks for the advice!

i have another question, *sorry*

with the stars, what ISO did you have?? and did you do any PS on it??

also did you do anything to the 2nd pic?? it looks weird IMO

cheers

Haha no problem. For the night/star pic I had an ISO of 400, and the exposure cranked all the way up. The only post processing on it I did was exposure, trying to make it brighter, I'll try and post up the original for reference. The second pic was one of the first pictures I've ever shot in RAW, (it was yesterday) and I fooled around a little with the temp. color, exposure, stuff like that.

I like them, a lot!! great work man. the only thing is that you could use a little more variation, but your style is your style, so whateves. Smile . but i also think that you might want to find a better place to be setting up your djs, so u arent landing in the trees like in pic #3. hahaha. my fav is the mirror shot. i like it. i dont know why. it is just very different. keep up the good work

Haha thanks guys, appreciate the comments. Anything longer than 30sec and you start to loose the still star effect. I do have a question though for someone, anyone out there. How does someone do say a 6 hour exposure or whatever to get the star circle all the way around the sky, what do you need to do this?

Oh and to guerin, the ISO was only at 400 it this particular photo.

you camera needs to have bulb control or a similar setting where as long as you hold down the shutter it stays open

then you need a way to push the shutter down with either a remote cable or wirless shutter button or something as simple as an earbud and tape

tripod is a must - position the camera for the angle you want then making sure you have something covering the lens tape the earbud onto the camera pushing down on the shutter button remove whatever is blocking light from entering the lens then play the waiting game takes a while to get the exposure dialed and get as far away from the city as you possibly can
