I had Halo 24's on my old Kona, and loved the shit out of them for slalom. However, I tried them on my new Stinky, and like 26 better for freeride. It's really a personal preference as far as feel and handling goes.
I think it depends primarily on personal preference. There are subtle differences (besides the obvious 2 inches ) such as acceleration and top speed, but really i think it's about whatever feels best to you.
24s for sure. 26s are better if your just begining becuase theyre a little more stable if you case alot or what ever but 24s all the way stronger lighter and easyr to manuver, theyre smaller then most standard mtb but not quite a bmx. bmxs are really easy to manuver. only reason i dont ride bmx is theyre too small 24s are perfect
i know if i run a 26 up front and a 24 in the back it will affect rake or handling or whatever but will it change the feel of the bike to run double 24's? i have a 07 p2 if that helps (and yes i know they'll be less stable...but any adverse affects other than that?)
i haven't riddena mtb with 26" wheels since 01. i run dual 24's on my ht's and duallys. i just plain prefer it. thinking of building a starter trials bike with 24's as well.
y does everyone say 24s accelerate faster, that your gear ratio (altho 24 do change your ratio from 26s)
Because the main weight of the wheel is closer to the centre of the wheel, meaning it isnt so hard to turn, also the rim tyre tube, will be lighter cause of the size.
