Gibson19, you seem to be damn good at making sweeping statements with no specifics. When you say the USA needs a true conservative who would put through economic reform, what sort of reform did you have in mind? I'd like to know, since, as a socialist, it'd be nice to have a go at ripping them down Beer Book


All of you who say that Obama just won because of Obamamania, well, you may be right. But it ain't because he's black. It's because he's fresh, clever and charismatic, and a magical speaker. And, frankly, if it was the general moronic US public opinion that got him into office, then for once it actually made the right decision.... he thinks, unlike most presidents, in terms of what should be done for the common good, not in terms of the rich or in terms of partisan politics - policies for the sake of attracting voters.

And I take pride in saying this, because I may never get another chance - Makalaster doesn't know what he's on about. There. I said it. If you think Obama doesn't know what he's doing, you need to take a good long look at his policies. Two days in, and he shuts down illegal detention centres and reinstates the Geneva Convention in US detainment procedure? The man has vision, knows what he wants to do, and will implement it. You should check out his enviromnental policy, it's a shake up the likes of which has never been seen by previous presidents - eg. Bush accepting bribes to keep illegal coal-fired power stations open.

It does suck for the terrorist recieving it!!! keep it coming I say!!!! HAHA I guess we could have taken them to Canada and gave them hugs and flowers and told them it is ok to murder innocent people!!!

We have this idea up here called Human Rights. It's where instead of A) killing our criminals and B) torturing our enemies, we lock them up for life. Torture is a cowardly excuse for not having the discipline to be above your enemy and prove what it is that you're fighting for.

The allies in WW2 didn't torture the Germans (unless it was rogue troops acting by themselves), the Soviets practiced obtuse methods (like Hungary 1956 or Czechoslovakia 196Cool and we didn't; guess who came out on top? And guess who will be remembered as the better?

Torturing the terrorists reduces you to their same level; so why not go join them?

FYI, It costs more to execute someone than it does to lock them up in prison for life.

so that means you would be fine with them torturing captured american soldiers. kind of like an eye for an eye. that brings us back to the dark ages. the reason wy we are a super power is that we have morals, and we are above most nations. we dont need to stoop to their level. but whatever. go join the barbarians that roam arond the middle east

Funnily enough every single one of the guys in those detention centres is innocent. You have to be charged, tried and convicted of a crime before you're "guilty". And we'd absolutely love it if they were given tickets to England so they can be either charged with a crime (if there is any evidence) or set free with our deepest apologies and support.

And if you knew shit about the Geneva convention, you'd know that all people have a right to uniform treatment before the law. Nazis - killed 6 million Jews and 20 million Russians? Yeah, they're respectable, so let's not torture them..... Arabs? Well, 20 or so of them killed 3000 Americans seven years ago, then we invaded an Arab country and destroyed its infrastructure, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians..... unrespectable. Definitely. Torture them.
