UPDATE [August 26th] Four new paintings added, page 7!

Check out pages 2 & 3 & 4 & 5 & 7 for more!
--------
Seeing as my previous two paintings were well received when I posted them up in the Lounge (thanks for all the comments!) I decided to post up my newest batch of 6 here. REMEMBER! This was all done using spraypaint, glossy posterboard, magazine paper, a straightedge and round stencils like cookie lids, and a pallette knife. I hope you like them. Smile

EDIT: Alright, the pictures are working. The photo quality (and the photographing itself) is pretty poor, sorry about that.

I screwed up on some small details but no painting is perfect. Wink

PS: If the images don't show up, I'll try to fix them right away.
PPS: Damn, this is embarrassing. What's wrong with the links??

Haha, thanks Maarten. Redface If you find my paintings great, your jaw would literally fall off at the professional's paintings. Wink Check out www.spacepaintings.com or www.cosmokid.org for two of my favourite artists' sites.

I need to start selling them as it's a very expensive hobby but I don't really have any place to sell it other than eBay and through word of mouth; is eBay worth a try?

wow they look great I love that style of painting,I saw a guy on the front page of yahoo.com do one in like a minute or so. It's really cool to see how it's done.

Anyways keep up the good work!

I've seen people do this before and its amazing how they do it and the person I was watching made paintings like these in under 10 mins

Heres the artist's site I was watching do the paintings.

http://www.spraycanman.ca/gallery.html

I strongly sugest you look at this site except they look soo much better in real life

what about work on a helmet...they would be cool designs

jonslater: Thanks! I'm hoping to do a video sometime, I'll be sure to post it up here if you're interested. The one minute painting was probably Brandon McConnell, he's an excellent artist. Wink
taylor380: Yeah, watching live and seeing the paintings in person is definitely a lot better, especially when watching people like Cosmo Kid who also add a little show in there to keep things interesting (doesn't just pick the cans up but spins them, small little details).
philly-g: A helmet is possible but I don't have anything to practice on and I don't want to ruin a helmet in case it goes wrong. Wink People have done things like walls, mailboxes, truck tailgates, etc, the important thing is that the surface isn't matt but glossy, or at the very least it's primed.

Thanks for the feedback.

Gabor, those are sick. I love watching the time-lapse youtube of people making those.

The sad thing is I have never seen a space painting up close, but it's something I really admire. Keep at it, I want to see more!

Thanks man! Yeah, the time-lapse videos are really fun to watch, especially since they all start off like a weird random blob of colours and evolve into paintings. Smile

I'll probably do another batch sometime this week, I'll be sure to post them up (including a custom order winter nature scene, this should be interesting).

those are really nice. i live in austin and there is this guy that chills on this one busy sidewalk at night. plays some trippy space music and does the painting, people always stop to watch, and he has a tip jar that doesnt look too light. he also sells some of his paintings there too.

just an idea, especially with the nice weather we have been having at night, i wouldnt mind having an excuse to spend more time outside. oh, and if you do it you should wear a gasmask, much cooler that way Big Grin

Thanks for all the comments guys! Smile

bmx-: I actually blow at watercolors, temperas, you name it, I suck at it. Razz I've always liked drawing though, even though I'm not good, but the attraction towards this art form was so strong I decided that I'd definitely stick with it. All I can say is if anyone is interested in starting it or at least giving it a go I'd be happy to help in terms of providing advice on what material to buy, etc.

TaylorSmith-: I would do, except I've never uploaded video footage from my dad's camcorder onto the PC, nor have I ever edited it. I figure I could always give the digital camera's video function a try; if you guys don't mind worse quality I'd be happy to film some of my paintings. Wink This could be a temporary measure while I try out the uploading and editing of footage; any recommended programs? Windows Movie Maker?

kicksnlicks: Thanks! tup I'll post up my next batch here, I'm hoping to get it done this Saturday or Sunday.

lbobbitt513: Thanks. Smile I, like 95% of the other artists, _always_ wear a mask and latex gloves; the fumes from the paint are really harmful and there's a carcinogenic constituent in the paint which you want to avoid getting on your skin. I've gotten perfectly used to the respirator, the only problem is that once you've been painting for hours the sweat can't evaporate from inside and it gets stuffy in there, plus it leaves a big red mark on the bridge of my nose and on my cheeks like swimming goggles do. Realistically speaking, I should be wearing eye protection too but I think the integrated masks are a little over the top; I'll just buy separate eye protection.

that is soo cool. when i was in aruba a couple years ago i bought one from a guy doing them in the street. it was a custom one and i watched him do it. it was so neat. all of them are great but my favourite is the lake/reflection one.

damn avatar, why won't you move?
