hey so i have this problem.
my cranks spin fast at certain points but slow at the top of revolution.
they are odyssey wombolts with a euro bb on my mob
there is no chain or anything on yet just the cranks sprocket and bb attached to the frame. when i take the bolt out they spin freely but when i put the bolt back in and tighten it they are stiff at some spots and smooth at the others.

anyone have any suggestions?

maybe the bolt constricting bearings bmx or mtb?

did you install the bb and crank yourself?

just guessing, but the spindle could be bent.

Is the BB shell in the frame faced?? Facing makes both sides parallel and then when the cups go in there are parallel otherwise something is bent.

i dont think you can do that with a euro (threaded) bb..

Ahh didn't see that...Perhaps then he installed one cup cross threaded.....I have seen a few come by my shop where someone didn't get one side in right.....But could just be bent.

usually you'll just find that the BB will make some noise from an unfaced shell.... with the cranks not spinning real freely it might even be a bad bearing issue... I've seen a few bad bearings on new cranks and hubs, uncommon, but not unheard of.

Do those cranks need that middle spacer inside the bb to load the bearings (gold maybe)? If you don't have that and need it your bearings will be all sorts of messy.

without a chain on, that shouldn't make a difference.
