Actually, he trained 3 Months on the smaller jump and did 36 training jumps on this huge jump, not falling off his bike a single time (at least, that's what the homepage tells us).

The speed at take-off was 85km/h (53mph), top-speed after landing was 112km/h (70mph)!

I had wondered when it was done, the site is in German, so cheers for the time line, I thought that as well, it was a bloody close call....
