Eastern Traildigger 24... Thoughts and reviews.

I am interested in picking up a winter project bike. A guy near me has a Traildigger 24" for sale for a good price. The bike is mostly stock except for new bars, brakes and pedals. I am more interested in the frame/fork than anything else. Ideally I am just looking for a cheap 24" to throw around the park.

I read a few reviews around here but nothing really definitive with any good, real, rider input. It is either "it is good" or "it sucks" with no reasoning. As far as I can tell the frame is average. What bugs me is the "Chromoloy downtube" description. I assume the rest of the frame is high-tensile steel? I am not too worried about the parts as I would probably replace a few of them. If anyone has more input on the frame and fork that would be great.

Also please don't contaminate this thread with "get a molly or dob". I don't want that. I have a full blown Mob and I am looking for a stocker 24" just to try out. So please just reviews and opinions of actual usage. Don't tell me your friend said it was awesome. That is not a review.

well the only prob is that the hi-tensile steel might brake cause its a cheap material that is used on cheaper bikes but other then that it looks nice, but DK makes 1 that has a full cro-mo frame and is only $300 (american) or a ns holy (all "stockers")

If the sticker says cromo down tube you can bet the rest is not. The DK is not too bad but it's pretty flexy and a (IMO) real long rear end. The frame in the pic looks like it has a nice set up. It would be too bad if they cheaped out on the frame.

Yep guilty as charged. I really wanted opinions on the traildigger but my added research proved that they are not what I want. Nice stocker but in the end I decided to build a new bike.

Plus I got an 08' frame, Gold Label, pivotal post and seat, Deity stem, bar and headset for less than $500. Had to do it...

I will be building wheels and using Profile hubs. I am debating on using hollow CrMo axle or solid Ti (about the same weight). The big difference is cost between the 2 and hollow Ti is very costly. I am also going Profile cranks with axle. The plan is to match the hubs and chainring using the same colors. I love Tree splined chainrings so I need to match up the ano color of that to the Profiles. Most likely purple.
