this might be a silly question but how do u get the cartridge out in the first place and how do u refill the leg with oil?

you have to take the top cap off the leg.then the nut off the bottom of the fork leg then the cart will come out.after you do the mods to the cart you put the cart back in the leg and put the nut back on the bottom of the leg.you fill the oil in the top of the leg

I have the same problem with my 55r's and have read the whole thread about the "ghetto" upgrade to the open bath.

When you say drill a hole 21mm from the bottom of the hexagon nut - do you measure from the under side of the hex nut after the thread that fixes the rebound cart back into the forks??

am i just being dumb??!!

ok THERE IS AN EISER WAY TO FIX THE REBOUND CARTRIDGE i had a last ditch attemt at fixing my cartridge before buyin a new one,and it works perfectly it can use up all its travel and the rebound adjustment nob still works, all you have to do is drill a 1.5mm hole on the side at the top of the cartridge and one on the side at the bottom of the cartridge but drill 20mm in from the top/bottom and be careful not to drill the piston which is inside the cartridge. i really didnt want to do this but im so glad i did its fantastic just do it. Smile good luck Big Grin

So you just basically did the Open bath mod then? I did that with my old DJ2 and it was nice.

Yes, when I came to that part I just skipped it. An I never had problems with it after that.

ye i didnt understand why you need to do that, the holes are only drilled for oil flow to prevent hydralock in the cartridge Smile
