I have a set of Mavic 721`s laced with I9`s...now my problem is that the front rim keeps on ripping off the valve stem...theres no jaged edges and it fits in fine...theres no spokes pretruding the rim tape and im careful of making sure the valve isnt cockeyed when I pump it full of air...is there any reason why it keeps shredding my valve stems cuz ive gone through so many tubes in the past 3 days lol Big Grin

Thanks for the help

Chris

this happened to my mtx rims last year but just disappeared one day. maybe try rounding out the edges..

sounds a bit strange, the edges might jus need a light file to round them a bit.

better tubes????

well ive already filed and sanded the edges...and ive tried different tubes im wondering if its cuz the tubes or tire is slipping even when its full of air...

Sorry bit random, but you guys seem to know about 721's so you'd be best to answer this, I am looking at wheels to get for a DH bike i am building. Do think 721's would be better than deetraks?

yeah.. if the rim tape is good and the hole is smooth.. then the tire must be moving (spinning) on the rim a bit when breaking and causing the problem..

Once the tire is inflated, remove the small threaded nut that holds the tube down against the rim. This will allow the tube to move, rather than get pinched.

i think its actually ex729 on deetracks not ex721. It has always been like that i think. not ex 721 this year either.

yeah.. im gonna say just either remove or loosen the little nut thing that screws down onto the rim.. my mate had the sam problem (not same rims though) and it worked. Give it a go..
