You do realize that a soft tail and full suspension are not the same thing right. A soft tail has a small shock, usually one inch travel and no lower linkage bearing, it just uses the flex of the frame.
when i say softtail i mean softtail, i know what it is...

Most FS 4x bikes dirt jump quite well. Thats until you start getting into the super-light weight race bikes. (which I personally wouldn't even 4x on let alone DJ)

I love my Double to death its the most rewarding and forgiving bike i've ever ridden.

I don't think you do. All the bikes you are looking at are full suspension. I really don't think there are any full suspension dj bikes with less than 3in of travel. I might be wrong though.

technically, this is a softtail. what we are talking about are short travel dual or full suspension bicycles; but we all know what's going on, so it doesn't really make a difference. Except the Cannondale Chase DS, I don't really know what that is...

Softtails have no pivot, so the Chase is just another shortie.

Technically not a softtail.

Though, semantics about the thread title aside, suggestions have been made. Any results OP?

That is why I put it in quotes.

somebody should make a legit softail dirtjumper...just to smooth out rough trannies or harsh landings better than a hardtail.
