Im a somewhat beginner at photograpghy and also a rider, Im looking into getting my first real slr camera. Somthing pretty simple, easy to use, and takes fast shots (previous camera grinded my gears with slow taking of picture)and Also takes crisp and the best shot for the money. My budget is around 800 tops and under which already sounds scary.
Ive seen recomendations on the d40/60 and rebel series. I was looking at the rebel xs and xsi..is it worth the extra money for xsi over xs?
Glad to hear your getting into photography! I would suggest you get a low end Nikon, Canon, Or Pentax. Even they are low end I would put more money into a lens then the body. Something like Nikon D40 or Canon XSI would be your best choice.
Well is that is the case then go Canon SX or Nikon D40. The lenses you put on the body are going to make your shots. Also there is no need for a high MP camera if you are not making large prints.
I have an a200 and it's awesome, i have found so many awesome old Minolta lenses that fit it on ebay that I don't know what to do with them all. Not to mention it's probably the easiest to use dslr I have ever seen (I've seen lots) and it has pretty much all good reviews.

I guess i should have been more specific sorry but i had a sony camera a-something couple of years ago and did not care for it, sorry if i offended
What, the Sony A200 is widely regarded as one of the best entry level DSLRs there is! It's won many awards and when you consider price vs features nothing else comes close. To top it off the image quality is superb! I'm not knocking any of the other models suggested, but you'd be shooting yourself in the foot if you didn't consider the A200.
