double crown on a demo 7?

I live in southern california and getting into the downhill/freeriding scene. I just picked up a Demo 7 with a totem fork. any suggestions about considering switching to a double crown fork? the totem feels plush but I hear the stiffness on a DC is worth it.

nooooo dude the rockshox totem is the most wicked singlecrown there is, it feels like a fox 40. a demo 7 is a strictly freeride bike, and that is a gnardog freeride fork, trust me keep itt!!!!!! and also have u ridden green tunnel yet, i love that trail

yeah but when ur downhilling u dont need a huge turning radius

Hey if you live in Poway then you HAVE TO RIDE at TED WILLIAMS or MEADOWBROOK. It is the best local FR and DH spot close to you. There are lots of different trails there. Pro's shoot footage there, and there are locals there riding all the time.

My wondering is about the differrence in the geometry and the bike performance between demo8+double crown fork and demo7+double crown fork and
the stock demo 7 shock is changed with 8.5x2.5(which means 7.7" travel not 7" as it is with the stock shok).
Acoording to the www.specialized.com the difference between L size demo 7 and demo 8 are 3mm longer top tube for demo 8, 6mm higer BB height for demo 8, head angle demo 8 -64/65,demo 7 65/66,15mm longer wheelbase for the demo 8,6 mm higher stand ofer for the demo 8.
Will the change of the stock shock change the geometry(or only the travel)?
Probably if demo 7 is with 203 mm fork the wheel base will be longer?!
What will happend with the BB height and the standover of the demo 7 with 7,7 " travel and 203mm dual crown fork(fox 40 or boxxer for example)?
Probably the head angle will decrease too?!
Is it possible to put 8.75x2.75 shock to demo 7 and what will happend?

One of my riding mates had a demo 8 with 888 WC, fully raced out and reduced the fork travel to 7 inches and loved the way it handled.just an idea is to get a duel crown and reduce the travel for better geometry and handling. I dont see why it would be a bad idea on a demo 7?

2. you don't need to buy a different shock to get 7.7 inches of travel out of your demo. Just get a screwdriver and push your bump stop torward the middle of your shock. Then you will see a plastic C clip which you can remove with a pair of needle nose pliers. Push the bumb stop back giving you 7.85 inches of rear travel.

if the vivid is the same size as the stock dhx then you should have the same amount of travel
