I would like opinions from everyone so i can see who is for the legalization and people against it.
First off i will give my opinion.
I think we should legalize it only for medical purpose and nothing else. You can only get this herb only if you had a prescription. You should not be aloud to smoke and drive a car, bike, bicycle, anything that requires you to use your physical strength or mind for traveling. Also no working with machines. You should never be aloud to smoke in a public area too.

I agree with you... however how are you gonna stop people from smoking and driving... It would be like drinking and driving essentially... There's really no way to prevent it. It would just be another substance that can put other people's lives in danger when not taken seriously.
But think about all the good it will bring to all the handicaps or the sick? Most of us use painkillers to relive pain. All of them contains chemicals that our body isn't supposed to take. Why not use something from nature. Marijuana is made from god (If there is one) and is a part of mother nature. We should embrace this herb for it can heal our stress, depression, pain and more.

your opinion is already a legal truth, medicinal weed is legal.
my opinion, is that, the government is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to 'fight the war on drugs,' yet the problem persists out of control. If the funds for grow-op enforcement were cut completely due to legalization the extra funding for meth lab prevention and clean injection sites, may hinder, or halt the growth of 'hard' drugs because addicts could just go to seven-eleven and pick up a pack of weed-smokes in order to meet their biochemical opiate needs. The Government would tax the hell out of it, and everyone wins! except drug dealers, they go crying back to their crack-shacks!
on the other hand, if you can get addicted to it, you make it internally. Any addictive chemical has a biochemical counterpart... meaning, if you can get addict to weed, meth, or cocaine; your body produces a perfect protein counterpart... meaning, the legal system would have to illegalize THINKING to truly stop the war on drugs... Thoughts produce emotions, emotions are the reaction to proteins via our cells, therefore, a high can be achieved thru the mind, we just aren’t consciously aware of HOW...

Medicine tends to help SYMPTOMS, but not the actual cause of the pain/stress/disease.... weed unforunetly is the same...
I could really care less if it gets legalized... I don't think its gonna have any affect on my life... however if it were legalized I think it would have the same issues of cigarettes as in crazy taxes for them... not to mention theres nowhere to really smoke anymore in public... I also think that less people would smoke if it were legalized... I know a lot of people who do it too fit in or look cool by being a bad ass rebel...
Problem is theres no way its gonna get legalized within the next 10 years for sure... There would have to be some crazy government full of radical ideas in order for this to happen... Thats just my prediction because even the most non conservative or political leaders would never even think about this seriously.

hope that help... Im all for TOTAL LEGALIZATION!

Some interesting thoughts. I don't like to think that emotions and the working of the human brain can be explained so readily through science, we know very little about these things, but whatever you're reading sounds interesting.
However, where is medicinal marjuana legal? Not very many places! California, yes. The netherlands, certainly! Canada? Dont know. Fact is medicinal marjuana is illegal in a lot more countries than it is legal. And as for junkies getting their "opiate needs" for weed, well weed obviously isnt of the opiate family and a hardened addict wouldnt settle for weed. They'd go out and rob someone to get what the need.
Also, weed becomes less and less natural by the year. So many new strains are being artificially developed through cross-breeding etc that it's becoming a totally different drug to what it was 30 years ago.
I used to smoke weed, but I gave up. I have an addictive personality and I smoked too much. It became boring, I became bored. It's okay if you use it responsibly. And more than once a week is too much.
If it were legalized fully then I think it may be good in the long term as the "underground" scene would be gone and it wouldn't be anything cool or special since anybody could do it. It could stop people from going onto harder drugs as they are not buying it from a dodgy street dealer who doesn't give a shit about you're life and just wants some money no matter who it hurts. It would also be safer because if you are buying from a licensed cannabis shop they would be no shit pumped into it, you'll just be getting the proper stuff. Also if you are smoking it in a Cannabis Cafe then it's in a safer environment.
I think we should legalize it only for medical purpose and nothing else.

Agreed. The goverment only spends millions of dollars on sting operation, fights against drugs which is they will never win. There will always be drugs. The only reason why it's so widely spread in a bad manner is because of what marijuana represents. Marijuana now represents the bad in people the coolness of smoking. It is possible to get a prescription for pot, but for some that really need it can't get it legally, so they take the easy way. Buying it on the streets. Plus, if we legalized marijuana, the black market will be loosing billions and billions of dollars.
We are not rats, we don't deserve chemicals in our body. Use nature to cure. Painkillers has the same effect as marijuana at some point.
Imagine the developments of our economy, the joy of less junkies on the street shooting up something a lot more harsher then pot.
Pot is good, no one has died from it, ABSOLUTLY no one. These days, the worst kind of legal addictive drugs are alcohol, tabaco. These are killing millions of people and destroying lives and family.
I agree about Rakk's artificial and hybrid marijuana statement. If you look at the plant 30 years ago, they were all natural. Nowadays, our marijuana is about 5 TIMES stronger then before, maybe even more. There should be a law prohibiting these hybrids.

actually the brain has nothing to with biochem except for the production of the biochems... Our single cells are responsible for feelings and emotions, it is our perception of these biochems docking on single cell receptors that gives us a happy or sad emotion/feeling. Read "Biology of Belief" or "Molecules of Emotion," both explain in FULL exactly how the mind/body relationship works in regards to brain chem. trust me Raak, ALL The info is there, no stone left unturned.
With that said, endocannibinoids and opiates dock on different receptors, but illiciate the same responses during the 'growth cycle.' Growth or protection cycles are different states of the cells awareness, in a moment of panic or fear, growth stops and protection cycle is activated, during that time, biochems do a much different job, therefore doubling the amount of possible emotions and feelings we experience at the macro level of OUR exsistance. meaning, if your scared well you toke, the chemicals effects you much differently then if you're in normal 'growth' cycle... so be 'aware.'

what about 12,000 years of breeding dogs. Sumerians and Jerchonians were noticing how dogs could be bred to be bigger, or faster... and no one complains...
just cause there's more 2x the THC, doesnt mean it's 2x stronger. The percieved, advance in the potency is due, in part, to selective breeding of plants. if a mutation produces more redhair or more crystal, that needed trait is passed on by breeding THOSE plants with like plants...
"In 1974, the average THC content of marijuana was less than 1 percent. But by 1999, potency averaged 4.56 percent"
this statement is from the federal governments own 'Potency Monitoring Project' at the University of Mississippi... this statement claims potentcy has risen 4x since the 70's but only THC content has risen four fold... the potency has risen 1.4x in strength, a small amount in a 30 year timeline...

In Canada the Liberals, NDP, Bloc qubeccois(the french) and obviously the marijauna party want decrimalized like amsterdam its only the conservatives which dont want it legalized
