why did S&M stop making cranks?

chris was having production issues, see s$m didnt make the cranks a certain other big company did, and they wern't putting the love into the product.

And this is where I'm going to ask what the issue with aluminum is.

This is also where I'll say your 4130 cranks are an alloy. Lol.

allu is to brittle, and flex feels good...

Don't think snapping was ever an issue with Hollowbites.

what was the issue?

I think we need the flex in steel cranks tool, the amount of shock and vibration it takes out

I like how they felt. That's preference though.

Pedal insert is the ultimate downfall I'd say. The rest is basically perfect. Maybe I'd want a 19mm spindle somehow for larger bearings? Dunno.

i never understand why 48 spline is preferred to square taper, or 5 spline...

This has also been the case for me as well as with Redline device. Since I broke my foot and did ligament damage in my ankle as it heals (still not right yet) It got even more common with the device.
My profiles feel awesome and rarely get my ankles, when they do its usually that my footing is off. My Demolition Medial V2's feel awesome and have taken a beating, and I recently bought Subrosa Bitchin's that feel awesome as well.
The pedal inserts in Primo's can be a bitch especially if your hard on pedals or doing crank arm slides but if you check them once in awhile to make sure they are tight or when you notice a pedal feels loose, check the insert, tighten them up and they will be fine. Its called bike maintenance..............shouldnt be as rare as it seems to be with this generation of bmx'ers.
I also found that pulling the insert, cleaning the threads and reassembling with red locktite works well.
