My oldest son will be turning 14 in Feb, but thinking of getting him a new bike for x-mas first. He wants to get into DJ/Skatepark riding, mainly skatepark out here. I have an SX and an Enduro, but those aren't quite right for that stuff. Keep in mind that I may have to "borrow" it from time to time while he's in school or out with friendstup Any ideas would be great. Oh yeah, money plays a factor as well. Thanks

SKATEPARK RIDING, what is the point in getting him any of the bikes listed above which are effectively mountain bikes with slick tyres, real good for skate park, NOT!!!

BMX is the only way forward, not only is it alot cheaper to buy initially than a MTB but it wont break so you wont be forking out on new parts all the time like you would be with a mountain bike.

BMX will help him progress much faster it will be much easier to jump and trick for a 14 year old cos its lighter and smaller. Also, he will end up being a much smoother and more stylish rider because of it. Look at all the top (stylish) pros, they all came from bmx.

BMX is designed for park, not MTB

I hope you go with the bmx, i have a bmx and an mtb and find the bmx a joy to ride on dirt/park after riding a heavy mountain bike down a hill, 2 totally different experiences that are equally as enjoyable. Why bother making park riding less anjoyable by using an MTB for it?

Are you a spastic? Its a full suspension, practically worthless in a skatepark.

An easy way to decide is to watch a vid of a pro bmxer riding a skatepark and then a vid of a pro mountain biker. Makes mountain bikes look pitiful
