no its a canon 580 ex II. this was shot on with my 70-200 so a on camera would'nt have the range.

The 580 is on your camera though, not fired via slave or remote

opinions on this as a first decent camera for bike stuff? dslr is far too expensive.

i have a d40 and i'm super happy with it

dslr's and digicams are two different worlds

you can't do proper action pics with that lumix (or any digicam), digicams have long shooting lag so you miss the action in 90% cases, while dslr take a pic instantly

dslr's have much larger sensors so you can shoot in darker conditions. size of the sensor is much more important than how much megapixels (those are just marketing trick mostly)

I dont but I can tell you that in some ways the D40 is better than the more expensive d5000 for action, because it has a faster flash
