so what do I do in detail with the rubber mallet?

whats cranks are they? if they have self extracting bolts you can take them off without a crank puller. if they aren't, you'll need one if you want to do it properly without the risk of damaging your cranks

Which crank arm is stuck? You haven't told us much other than it's still on the bike.

i just took off my cranks about 5 minutes ago with a rubber mallet. its easy, just bang on the crank arm as close to the frame as you can get. you will have to bang a lot really hard, but it'll come off eventually. and if you think it will break, it wont. think about how much abuse the cranks get when your riding... hitting it with a mallet is nothing compared to a sideways landed whip

the only cranks that will come off with a mallet are real shitty soft ones. like truvativ low end crap. or any brands low end crap.
go get the tool. there's usually only one good way to do things. the right way.

you don't even need a mallet for those.Wink

here is an old school trick, undo your crank bolts and remove them completely then just ride around until they fall off, that won't work with raceface though.
