No way mate, i'm 31 and just got my first downhill bike, been doing cross country for years but then had a few years away from bikes, now getting back into them, still got my xc bike and now a downhill/freeride type bike to go with it...

Yeah, that ship has sailed for you, man. Have you thought about golf?

Seriously, you should be fine. I took up DH as a side hobby last summer after riding MX most of my life, and I'm 28 also (with a wife and two kids to boot.) Just try not to stack it so badly that you can't go to work and you'll have a great time.

If you think 28 is old then you must think 44 is prehistoric! Facepalm

If I didn't have a wife and daughter who depended on me I would definitely do some crazier stunts. Health insurance or not, it just takes longer to heal when you're older, and that's coming from a guy who broke his first bone last year. You can see my pics for some cool x-rays if you're bored.

No 28 is not too old. Now go buy the pimpest, lightest DH bike known to man.

With that said, 29 is WAY too old, when's your birthday? I'll buy your bike for .30 cents on the dollar & throw in my golf clubs to celebrate!

33 myself & faster than I ever have been. Blessed with good health & no harm crashes the 3 years I've been riding, noticeable progression each year, no need to slow down yet.

31 here!!!!, I had about 3 years without a DH bike....but I have just pimped my garage with allmountain and DH bikes..I`ve just had my 1st broken bone acouple of days ago...a hand bone so it`s nothing to cry about.
Some people had the chance when younger but for me now it`s the perfect time, I`d say 50 is close to old (FR/DH talking),

30 here and have been at it for a few seasons. I have taken my dad up as well and he loves it at 53! The question I ask my self is not age but obligation. Showing up to the office with scabs can be comical, but some of the larger stunts and risks I just let alone at this point.

Not being a racer, success to me is seeing improvement, but also finishing the season without major injury.

Do you have any riding experience?

Im only 18 broken 10 bones Smile , common guys make an effort, if you dont crash your not trying hard enough, either that or im just really bad, im going for the latter. haha

I know more guys between 25-40 who ride dh than i do guys my own age, cos they simply cant afford it, i only can cos i work my ass off, best of luck though.

well im 26 in a couple of months and i fell as fit and helthy as i did 10 years ago. The only thing that makes me think twice these days is my financial ties that would be effected if i couldnt work.

Then again im unemployed at the mo, so whats the worst that could happen.....
