Hi! I'm from Australia, and will be heading to the UK for the first time in August for a holiday. I'm taking my son and our bikes - we both ride downhill. Wondering if any of you have suggestions/advice etc on where to ride - preferably with uplift shuttles. I already know about Fort William - any other ideas?

Cheers

Where will you be staying in the U.K.?

Staying all over the place. We've got 3 1/2 weeks so will travel all over from Fort Bill at the top all the way down to the bottom - I believe there is the UK Bike Park down there, and we'll go to Cwmcarn in Wales. I got some time in between weekends to fill in. (oh and we will do all the traditional sightseeing - Buck Palace etc..)

Those are probably the best uplift places you can get in the U.K.! I would also check out Glentress as well... I don't know of any others with uplifts though sorry.

There is news that Llangollen are fielding an uplift, check out http://www.onegiantleap.llangollen.co.uk/ for more information.
As mentioned earlier there is Fort William, information at http://bike.nevisrange.co.uk/.
There is also Cwmcarn, I enjoy that track and uplift, info at http://cwmdown.co.uk/index.
Pearce Cycles hold uplift days, you have to enter at http://www.pearcecycles.co.uk/events.
If you don't mind pushing up there is always Hamsterley, Wharncliffe, Cannock Chase, Macclesfield forrest? to name a few.

Connor.

Fort William
Cwn Carn
Llangollen
Aston Hill
UK Bike Park
Caersws

(I'm not sure if they all have uplifts)

If you're in the South East of England there's not loads, but if you research a little there's lots of hidden stuff! Razz But some popular (but quite small) DH tracks are PORC, Friston Forest, Swinley, Tilgate, Bull track and for abit of freeride/north shore Esher Shore.

Message me if you are in the South East! :p

Glentress and Inners are both really close to each other so have a visit there after you've gone to the Fort. Inners is pure DH with uplift I think, Tress is a mix of everything from XC to Freeride.

A guy at Hamsterly does a lift day in a van with a trailer for the bikes, it's £22 and you get 10 or so lifts up

Try Bringewood also - not an uplift but fairly easy push up and some nice tracks. Hopton as well - both are Ludlow area. If you're into XC as well, Afan is great and only an hour or so away from CwmCarn - some nice flowing single track dh. Have fun!

If you're heading down to the South West, there is Gawton. It's about 5 minutes outside of Tavistock, near plymouth. They run uplifts on the weekends and you can get in over 15 runs if you have a good day. The tracks are rad (3 to choose from) and the uplift is great too.
Just search 'Woodland riders, gawton' or Dartmoor cycles on google to find contact details.

while your in Scotland, you could check out Dunkeld, Innerleithen an AE Forest. There's no actually uplifts there, but Uplift Scotland run uplifts at Innerleithen and AE Forest on certain dates/weekends.
