e.thirteen Athletes Sweep the US Open

If you were looking for e.thirteen athletes at the US Open last weekend, chances are that you'd see them huddled around the podium area. Both men's and women's pro downhill podiums were filled with e.thirteen riders, as the chain retention system performed flawlessly on its home soil.e.thirteen proudly unveiled their revolutionary new Staccato 8 prototype this past weekend, a platform pedal that has been in development for some time. The new pedal design was definitely the buzz within the e.thirteen rider appreciation tent, which had ping pong tables, lounge chairs, and TV screens displaying Lucent Production's latest video offering, Free Delivery. The rider appreciation lounge was open to all riders and gave them a place to relax between race runs, get a drink of water, work on their bikes, and stay out of the sun. The race action over the weekend was intense, with Cove's Steve Smith upsetting race favorite Sam Hill in the downhill finals. Smith made a name for himself at last year's Open, and came back to New Jersey again this year with the intention of unseating the world's fastest racer, Monster Energy/Iron Horse's Sam Hill. Steve was able to do just that, with a .5 second gap ahead of Hill for the win!

Steve and Sam were joined on the podium by fellow e.thirteen athletes: Bryn Atkinson, Matti Lehikoinen, and Andrew Neethling.


The women's downhill podium was also loaded with e.thirteen athletes, with Fionn Griffiths in first, followed by Kathy Pruitt and Joanna Petterson.

e.thirteen athletes gave their all in the dual slalom, where spectators cheered into the night. On a night where anyone could have taken home first, MS-Intense's JD Swanguen was throwing huge roosts in the corners on the way to second place. He was followed by Specialized's Kyle Strait and GT's Bryn Atkinson who were both completely pinned in third and fourth places. Women's slalom was swept by e.thirteen athletes as well, with Norco's Fionn Griffiths in first and Jamis's Kathy Pruitt in second.


Congrats also go out to men's amateur downhill winner and e.thirteen rider, Neko Mullaly, who put down an amazing 2:48 time in the downhill, good enough for top 20 in pro! At 15 years old, impressive is the only word to use for Neko.
