Bromont to Host QC-Champ Sept 21-22

by Maaxx Events
Maaxx Events is proud to announce that SkiBromont will host the Downhill Quebec Championships, during the weekend of September 21st-22nd.

SkiBromont has been the most popular mountain offering lift-accessed DH trails in the Quebec south area since its opening. This venue hosted many prestigious events such as the World Championships in 1992 and multiple World Cups (1993-1996-1999-2008-2009). For many years, it has been the venue for Canada and Quebec Cups but recently, the mountain didn't show any interest for DH Racing anymore. This year marks their comeback after a 2-year break.

In addition to the QC-Championships, Maaxx Events is organizing its third and final round of its B-Maaxx Serie, a local series that take place entirely at Bromont on intermediate tracks.

Both race tracks have yet to be confirmed. One thing is sure, the B-Maaxx track will be part of the QC-Champ track.

The B-Maaxx is a series that is presented by Sport Aux Puces, Dakine, Edgar Hyperlodge, St-Hubert Bromont, Gym Concept Action.

As a regular at Bromont I must admit that they have done a lot of work to improve the DH trails this year , & they seem to be trying to get more people interested in the sport ...

To everybody that like our sport racer or week end warrior, I am organizing a non official meeting at Bromont on Saturday evening right after the RedBull Whip Off contest. I think we need to talk about our sport and where it is going or where we want our sport to go… Come to see me at our Cycles Performance boot Saturday for more info. We need your comments.

This will be a great w-e that everybody should enjoy while it last. Rumors are that Bromont bike park is not making enough$$$ for the owners and that no more money will be injected in the mountain for DH... Hope this is all bs and we will still ride at Bromont for a long time...

From what I heard, it's the opposite. They're injecting money for the next couple of years to try and bring back some life into downhill. Which would make sense as the trail crew has been hard at work this year compared to the last few years. There has been some trail makeovers, a new trail early this season and some maintenance done a bit all over the place. I don't agree with all the trail changes, but at least they are working Smile

As a rider, I would really like to see the bike park get better and better. But the reality is pretty much like RoverDover wrote... MSA is another good example of this trend. No they wont close it next year, but they will let it die by itself... Right now the two major bikepark in our area (MSA and Bromont) are at a crossroad, either inject massive amount of $$$ to have a great bike park, or expand a waterpark, build a new one or new real estate... I'm just leaving you to guess wich road is going to be taken...

sorry but MSA is not in the same situation as bromont... syndicate employes at MSA.... Also this year it got destroyed by the rain after the winter also MSA probably make all their money with the world cups week and the winter... no matter the rest of summer

"Rumors are that Bromont bike park is not making enough$$$ for the owners and that no more money will be injected in the mountain for DH.."

That's Bullshit, I'm a regular at Bromont and I have spoken to the administration and they said that this year they surpassed their objectives by over 30%. It's quite the opposite, Bromont is getting better and stronger. MSA is having serious problems though.

Btw, Brakeless on the 21, yeah that would be really kool but one of these years I'd love to do the BMAXX on the 7. I was told they were considering doing a race on the 7 but the High-Speed section would be too dangerous for intermidiate riders.

Ski Bromont has work pretty hard the last few years to make trail riders feel unwelcome by destroying some of the oldest and nicest trail to build roads and high end houses. Erosion is rampant beacuse of all the trees chopped down to put more and more chairlifts up and ski runs to get as many people on the ski hill as possible. They have realized that trail riders (who dont keep the lift running) are are growing segment and Dhers are not growing at all. 10 years ago everyone went to Bromont, now there are a dozen places within a 2 hour drive that have nicer trails and a more welcoming attitude. Mountain biking is just an inconvenience when you are a real estate developer bulldozing the forest so rich people can have million dollar homes. One day soon DH tracks wont be worth insuring anymore and they will just forget about DH and expand the Waterpark.
