This video is episode 8 of an 8 part series that introduced the Judges for the Reality Redesigned contest. Reality Redesigned is a contest that gives students an awesome opportunity to design and submit an innovative mountain bike component, suspension or frame. Contestants entered their design for a chance to win awesome prizes! Submission entry has now closed. The theme of this first Reality Redesigned contest followed the Edge Factor Show film “Gnarly Metal”.

In April, we FINALLY get to the good stuff.. to the meat of Reality Redesigned: The GAUNTLET video series, featuring our Judges critiquing the Top 9 designs.

lol if I found a way a way to make (affordable) carbon frames in North America, it would be the dumbest move possible to sell it for "40,000$ worth of prizes". Banks would give probably ten times as much for a loan to start my own bike company ^^

If someone does it once they will surely do it again. It's about getting their name out there.

Intense, Thanks, bought an SS2 last year for many reasons, one being that it was hand built in North America. Seeing this video just confirms that I made a great choice, Intense is as passionate about building bikes as some of us are about riding. Keep it in House Intense. As for this contest I really dont know what to say, i'm just looking forward to watching it unfold, and good luck to all those who enter.

Nothing like crowd sourcing for ideas. Contests like this are BS. The winning idea could make someone else millions. Don't whore yourself out.

@ 3:51 I notice a kid straining to tweak a head tube with the front triangle in a vise. Now I haven't experienced it personally, but over the years I've heard many stories of Intenses' having misalinged frames. I wonder if this is their way of aligning them?

Cool inside look at NA manufacturing. It's tough going up against the big 3 and their offshore mfg. Should be interesting to see what ideas are brought to the table by the end of the contest. Really don't get the suspicion of so many people about stealing ideas. Seems like a really legit contest to equip those with great ideas with the stuff to turn them from concept to product.
