Iron Horse Bicycles, in partnership with Mad Catz Racing, is proud to announce the formation of the Iron Horse/Mad Catz Pro Team. The San Diego, CA based team will contest the full Norba National Championship Series, UCI World Cup Series, Sea Otter Classic, and selected regional events and freeride competitions throughout North America, Europe, and Australia.
The Iron Horse/Mad Catz Team is honored to have the following line-up of riders representing the program for the 2003 race season. These four riders bring National Championship and World Championship experience in addition to podium finishes at Norba National and World Cups levels. They were chosen based on their individual successes, professionalism, and their positive representation of the sport.

Nathan Rennie – Fresh off the heels of a 3rd place finish in the 2003 Red Bull Ride freeride competition in Australia, Nathan joins the program following a terrific 2002 season that saw him win the Sea Otter Classic DH, place 2nd at the Ft. William World Cup DH, and 4th at the Telluride World Cup 4X. In addition, Nathan is the 1999 Junior World Downhill Champion and is currently ranked 10th in the UCI DH standings. Nathan comments, “I am stoked to be on board with the Iron Horse/Mad Catz program for 2003 and look forward to a winning season with this talented program of riders.”

Sam Hill – Sam joins the team following his strong performance at the Red Bull Ride in Australia where he laid down near perfect runs to impressive the judges and claim the win. Sam’s breakout 2002 season saw him win the Junior World Championship Downhill and place in the top 10 at the Les Gets World Cup. A lot of eyes will be on this young Aussie as the sport watches him grow into a star rider.

Bryn Atkinson – Bryn is considered by many to be one of the most talented “un-discovered” Australian downhillers. His raw energy, big air skills, and bike handling abilities will lead him to the front of the pack.

Kyle Ebbett – Kyle returns for his fifth season with the Iron Horse program. E-Bot will be racing NCS 4X events and representing the team for freeriding, skatepark, and urban riding. He will also represent the team at the Masters World Championship event. Kyle is featured in the upcoming “Chain Reaction 4” and “Killing Time” videos.

At the time of this press release, Iron Horse/Mad Catz Team Sponsors and Equipment Suppliers include Maxxis Tires, Sram/Rock Shox, Hansen’s Energy Drink, Full Speed Ahead, Hayes Brake, Progressive Suspension, and e13 components. Additional team sponsors will be announced as agreements are finalized.

Team riders will be racing downhill events on the 2003 Iron Horse SGS-Team frame and working closely with the Iron Horse product development team in the development of a new 2004 downhill chassis. “The company is excited to be working with such a talented group of World Cup riders. We will be working hard to integrate the team’s feedback directly into new product ideas for the ‘04 models that will benefit riders at the pro level as well as the recreational cyclist.”, says Iron Horse Product Manager Todd Seplavy.

At each race, the Iron Horse/Mad Catz Team will host a tech/expo space of 20’ X 30’. Within the space, will not only be the normal tech and storage space, but will also feature a 10’ X 10’ interactive gaming room. This room will have music, video games, and the latest products from Team sponsors. It will be an exciting place for the public to interact with the team sponsors, their products, and learn more about the sport of mountain bike racing.
