Bicycle Cafe Kamloops Begins Blair Jones Fundraiser

You may remember reading the name Blair Jones on Pinkbike's pages last July. Blair suffered a serious spinal injury after a road gap gone wrong at Rose Hill. The Kamloops Bicycle Cafe has begun raising funds to hook Blair up with a set of wheels to get him back ripping Rose Hill in time for the summer season. Their goal of $10,000 obviously needs your generous patronage to become a reality. Not only will they be organizing fundraisers and parties that will benefit Blair's quest, they've promised a percentage from all Kamloops Bicycle Cafe hoodie sales. This young man is an old soul, far bayond his 18 years. We could all learn from his optimistic outlook.

Hey all, my name is Blair Jones, I am 18, and I recently broke my back doing some local filming on my bike. I am now paralyzed resulting in the loss of using my two legs. I have been racing bikes since I was five; so pretty much my whole life. I lived and breathed bikes. Everyday, no matter
what, I was always out on my bike even if there was nowhere to ride. The outdoors is my home and although I am in a wheelchair I remain active in my outdoor pursuits. I was asked by a friend, for a school survey, where my happy place was. At first I had no clue where that was, then I thought about biking. I had then realized that being on my bike was my happy place. Now being in a chair people ask me how I can deal with life in a wheel chair, and I just say its just another way of getting around, and that, "shit happens", I'm cool.

Being paralyzed is not going to slow me down one bit.

I already have big plans to get my self back out on the hill to rip it up and show
that nothing will slow me down; that being in a wheel chair is not going to take me away from what I love to do.

Contact The Kamloops Bicycle Cafe at 250-828-BIKE or via email for more information on how you can help Blair's cause. The shop is conveniently located at the base of Rose Hill at 1648 Valleyview Drive, Kamloops, BC. If you're ever in the neighbourhood, stop by and drop those loonies rattling away in your car's ashtray into the fundraiser jar, Blair deserves it!
