Giant Canada Team News

Giant Canada’s Brant Lyon and Eric Goss flew out to Mont-Tremblant, Quebec this past weekend for stop number two on the Canadian National series. The Tremblant course is renowned for some technically challenging rock gardens and truck loads of mud in the treed sections; however, it ended up being an unforeseen factor that took Giant Canada’s Brant Lyon out of race contention. During Brant’s race run an over-zealous spectator leaned out over the taped course to snap a picture of Brant as he barreled through the tree-lined single track, in a millisecond, Brant made an erratic, high speed, sharp turn to avoid the spectators upper body and in doing so suffered a major crash! Brant ended up limping across the finish line for 33rd place… and his Tremblant curse continues for yet another year.

Even though Giant Canada’s Eric Goss put in another podium finish, he too got the pleasure of sliding across the Tremblant rocks during his race run. With the finish line in sight, Eric knew he was on par for a podium finish. Then during the home stretch of his race run, maybe getting a little too exited, Eric let off the brakes even more and unfortunately slid out in one of the last corners and added some unwanted seconds to his time. Even still Eric slid in for 4 th place at the second Canadian National series race. Eric now sits in 2nd place overall in the National Downhill series.

As with the first Canadian National series race, Marc Landry from Fast Times Inc. was on handing filming the practice and race runs of both Brant and Eric for his ‘ES2 Fully Loaded’ mountain bike video.

British Columbia Provincial DH #3

In his first race back since an early season injury, Giant Canada’s Leon May tested out his still recovering shoulder at Bear Mountain, in Mission B.C. On one of the funest courses in the Province, 100% deep forest single track with a few man made jumps and berms always proves to be on top of the attendance chart for all the British Columbian racers. Leon put in a solid, but still conservative, race run and finished up in 6 th place for the weekend.
