Eko Sport, a specialty parts manufacturer, recently purchased Mountain Speed, maker of Mountain Racing Products (MRP). The purchase price was not disclosed."We continue to look for opportunities to expand our current base of products. MRP presents an opportunity for us to expand along a planned growth direction with a name and product line synonymous with quality and market leadership. MRP is a great fit with the other brands we manufacture and distribute," says Tim Fry, Eko Sport's president.

Eko Sport bought suspension seatpost maker Tamer Bicycle Components in May and in 2001 bought Al Kreitler Custom Rollers and the White Brothers cycling division. It also owns Englund Total Air and Power Grips.

Eko Sport contracted with Josh Paris, MRP's founder and president, for development of the MRP line, which features chain retention systems for downhill bikes.

MRP's manufacturing will be moved from Portland, Oregon to Eko Sport's base in Grand Junction.

MRP products will be displayed in Eko Sport's Interbike booth.
