Where do I start? Well first the format and editing is top notch! The syle kindda reminded me of Sprung! Stats off with a great Kovarik section, showing him shredding some if his local trials. Hot damn can he ever rip corners! Like a freight train on rails! (instant goose bumps just thinking about it!!) Then you have some great footage from the Red Bull Ride, which really shows you that even the best racers can ride stunts! I don’t know who the rider is, but you can see this Orange rider throw some of the best whips I have ever seen! Simply unbelievable!
There are a few sections that I really didn’t care for! Like this guy Luke Maddill riding by himself at a BMX track…just doing his own thing? There is also some BMX racing, which I’m just not a big fan of. But other than those, this movie is brilliant!
I really liked the 'original' helmet cam footage from Dave McLaughlin doing mad whips at a DJ park. The camera is attached to his helmet with some sort of boom so you can see him from the front. Very cool!!
The soundtrack is also pretty good! You can hear songs from Grinspoon, Radio Birdman, Hardkandy, Katalyst, Up The Anaesthetic, 88 Fingers Louie, Feature Cast, Vibra, Nylon Rythm Machine and Muzzy Pep.
If you think the main feature was good, wait till you see some of the Bonus Features. Heck, the Bonus footage included on this DVD is worth the price of admission by itself! More great Aussie ripping, awesome Joel Panozzo helmet Cam going down Mt. Beauty Victoria, some nice Photo Archive and some footage from a clinic Cedric Gracia gave when he was in OZ for the Red Bull Ride, so you might even catch some pointers from him ;o)
This holiday season I was watching Drift 1 when my VCR decided to eat my tape! I almost cried!! Drift 1 was one of my favorite movie, one that saw lots of playing time during those gloomy days. Well, Drift 2 is ever better (and I made sure to get it on DVD this time..hahaha). If you don’t feel like jumping on your bike and riding your brains out, there is something wrong with you!! Drift 2 is a must have in my opinion.
