A New Season Begins - SRAM's Race Truck Takes Off

[L=http://www.sram.com]SRAM’s [/L]U.S.- based Mobile Tech Crew headed out in the SRAM - RockShox Race Truck last Monday for another season of service on the dirt. The Tech Crew will spend the better part of seven months and log over 25,000 miles travelling to and from events.North American Race Manager John Dawson and Race Technician Jon Cancellier are going directly from the Colorado Springs, CO, facility to the NORBA #1 season opener in Waco, TX. 2004 marks the 15th season that SRAM and RockShox have serviced the best mountain bike athletes in the world. 2004 is also a year that will see numerous suspension and drivetrain product introductions, the Olympics, along with the expanded race calendar - it’s going to
be big year.

The truck itself is a Freightliner that measures just under 60 feet, including the trailer, and weighs nearly 33,000 lbs. The engine provides over 500 ft lbs of torque while hauling over 2,000 individual replacement parts and components. The Truck can fully support six technicians with four stations dedicated to suspension and two to drivetrain. The total area of the truck, trailer, and awning encompass 1,100 square feet of space, which is equal to a good-sized apartment. Additional features include a lathe, grinder, entertainment and sound system, refrigerator, lounge, storage, air compressor and countless other custom features.
