Race news from across the pond - Marzocchi Dragon series

Just got an e-mail from my friend Si 'Superfly' Paton of Descent-World telling me that Animal - Muddy Fox's Gee Atherton won the "Dragon No Chain Race" this past weekend. Saturday the 24th & Sunday the 25th, was Wales (UK) Marzocchi Dragon Rounds 3 and 4 at the Taff Buggy Trails. At the end of racing the chain extractors came out in mass and we were treated to the legendary "No Chains Race". Give it the toboggan style push off on the start and run as far as you want before jumping on your beast. If you want to really see who is the best DHer out of you and your mates / rivals then this really is the one.

Forget fitness, this isn't about who's clipped in and can pedal and spin faster than a Zanussi tumble dryer. This all about staying off the brakes, pumping and using your real bike skills. So how much slower did we all go, between 5 and 10 secs was the average! Now that almost makes you think you might as well forget any training your doing and just enjoy life, beer and women doesn't it?
I'll also put this down to Carpenters track finding and carving skills, the lay of the land is fast, flowing and natural.

Quote from Descent-World's Si 'Superfly' Paton, this was ace, everyone was buzzing on the start wondering how they were going to clear the step down and the doubles without any pedaling! If Carpenter runs this again I'll personally donate some Maxxis Semi-Slicks to the winner!

Will we see other race organizers following suit?
