With a purse of $10,000 on the line, the finals on Sunday, May 30 were fiercely fought. The Diablo Freeride Park, in Vernon, NJ, was swarming with fans from the New York tri-state area and beyond, and Junior World Champion
Sam Hill did not disappoint.
Hill, riding for Ironhorse/MadCatz, and using the SDG I-Beam seating system, turned in a final run of 2:53, almost 4 seconds faster than the nearest competitor in the Pro Men's race.
Colin Bailey (Maxxis),
Bryn Atkinson (Ironhorse/MadCatz), and
Duncan Riffle (Chumba/Spy Optics), also finished in the top 10, and all rode SDG I-Beam seats and seatposts. Local favorite
Aaron Chase (Cannondale) took a respectable 12th, also riding I-Beam Technology.
In the Women's Pro race,
Lisa Sher (Chumba Wumba) and April
Lawyer (Maxxis/Puma/Intense) finished in the top 5 on I-Beam seats and posts.
Needless to say, no rails squeaked, or were bent or popped out of the base in the winning of this event!
Look for the launch of SDG's upgraded and overhauled website later this month.
