The
Norco tech crew and support vehicles typically attend over 60 race and consumer events across the country every year. With tech staff and support vehicles based out of both western and eastern offices that have supplied neutral tech support at almost every provincial, national and world level race here in Canada, it is widely known that Norco puts more back into supporting the sport than virtually any other company out there. For the 2004 season Norco is changing it’s focus and re-working the plans to better support the many Norco bike owners across the country.
“Last year’s VPS Fest reminded us of something. The riders on Norco’s out there are family to us and we in turn want to support them as much as we can” says Peter Stace-Smith, PR/Marketing Manager Norco Performance Bikes, “we got a ton of feedback, huge kudo’s, thanks and appreciation from the 400+ Norco bike owners there. Coming into this season we wanted to change things up a little and see if our tech crews could provide that same high level of support at all the events we hit this year. We felt the only way we could do this would be to focus our energy on Norco Factory and Grassroots Team riders, and Norco supporters first and foremost—giving something directly back to our customers.”
So for the 2004 race season, Norco will only be providing no-charge tech support for owners of Norco bikes. As much as we would like to, wrenching for the whole cycling community at these events is pretty unrealistic. It becomes absolutely overwhelming when you’re the only company out there every weekend doing this type of tech support. We hope that by focusing on our customers, other bike companies will in turn step up and provide this type of service for their customers. Our tech support was starting to be taken for granted where every rider out there (regardless of make) figured we were there to serve them and many expected or even demanded this tech support from us.
Norco Performance Bikes has been attending major races and events since the early 70s. Now is the time for other bike manufacturers involved in our great sport to step up and make a positive contribution back to the cycling community along with Norco.
