Dirt News

Thanks for taking the time to read this latest DIRT Club installment!

Many cool things have happened through the summer and the horizon is looking great for our community and skills parks so check below and do what’s right.

Inter River Skills Park

As most of you will remember I have been working to try and get this area for a huge Skills park, well here is the scoop. Because of the shortage of $cash$ the District of North Vancouver cannot afford to help with fence removal, asphalt removal and drainage installation before the park is built. This has been a huge stopping point as we are talking about thousands of dollars spent before even building the park. All of this aside Cycling BC has come on board as a partner and it looks like we are about to work together to have a sanctioned BMX track installed as well as the rest of the skills park! We are currently working with District to come up with creative solutions for all construction work as they would like to see this park build as much as us… How cool is that? So keep your fingers crossed and more details will be coming.

Membership

DIRT Club has always been a free club based on the principal that we could create a lobby group, one voice for DIRT jumps one voice to keep kids and rider’s busy. Our voice has been heard but while council and District staff keep listening, your membership keeps sliding into the drainage ditch. Over 3/4 of our membership list is out of date Hotmail email addy’s and because we have very little funding hard copy (snail mail) is not an appropriate choice given we would rather see bling for shovels than recycling.
So, we need you to get a letter of support and update our lists now before Inter River goes off and you are in the dark. Inquiries can be made at dirtclub@hotmail.com.

Responsibility

It is a common mistake that keeps being made that rider’s visiting Myrtle park have the expectation that myself OR the local kids jumping there are also garbage collectors and full time maintenance workers. Do your part! In fact do more than your part it will pay off in Kharma, it’s proven! Right now Myrtle is brutal, leave your bike at home (especially in the wet) and go empty the garbage, clear drainage lines, fix up the wood structures, block off entrances that are halfway down the runway, all of these things require no tools just effort!

Business

If you are reading this and you are a teaching or coaching using this facility for money, please understand that it is available to the community through the hard work and donated dedicated efforts of the community. We don’t mind it being used for your capitol gains we simply ask that you contact The DIRT Club and find out how you can do your part to contribute back to your community.

Sponsors

From the time of The DIRT Club’s conception several companies have stood behind us and helped in tremendously cool ways. These companies are dedicated to The DIRT Club and should be recognized since they are all looking to help in any way possible at the drop of a shovel for our newest ventures, this is community.
