The Calgary BMX Racetrack is a GO! A few of us have been racing the Thursday evening races for the past couple of weeks, and WOW what fun! The Calgary BMX club has been gracious enough to allow Mtn bikers to race on there track providing there is enough of us to make up our own seperate Mtn bike class. So hopefully we'll see you out at the Track on Thursday nights!
Here's how it worksSome MTB'ers have already joined their club, but for
'first-timers' Calgary BMX is offering a deal ya can't refuse! For a paltry fee of only $25, you can have full access to the club (two days of racing a week, weekly coaching, etc.), for a full month to try things out.
If, after one month, you decide to stay on and join their club, that $25 fee you paid for your first month will be credited towards your annual club fee. Their $85 annual club fee includes an ABA/CCA BMX 'Cruiser' license!
MTB'ers who already have their ABA/CCA licenses are of course also welcome. You will have to add the BMX 'Cruiser' class to your license through the ABA, for a $25 fee.
Weather permitting, Calgary BMX races twice a week at their Blackfoot track:
- Thursdays: Sign-up 5:30 to 6:30pm / Racing starts at 7:00pm
- Sundays: Sign-up 12:30 to 1:30pm / Racing starts at 2:00pm
If the weather looks 'iffy', call their club hot-line to see if they will be racing: (403) 255-1610
Minimum Race Requirements: Bike in good working order, full-face helmet, long sleeved shirt, long pants, full fingered gloves, number plate, and the 30 day trial membership fee $25. Also, if you're under 18, you will need a waiver signed by an attending parent. If you don't have a number plate you can just make your own.
