Velo News named Canadian rider, Roland Green, of Team Trek/VW the Top North American Male Cyclist. This is the first time a Mountainbiker or non-American has ever won the award. Green is fresh off a phenomenal season in which he won the World Cup Championships and Overall Title as well as the NORBA XC and Short Track titles. On a related note, Velo News also named Greg Minnaar the Top Male Mountain-Bike Racer. This award, a first for a non-European, has Greg very excited especially after being snubbed by the South African Cycling fraternity in their recent award voting for top cyclist. Greg also won International Best Male Downhiller, beating out Nicolas Vouilloz and Steve Peat. On the women's side, Anne-Caroline Chausson took Female Mountain-Bike Racer of the Year, an award she can add to her record number of World Cup Titles and Championships.
