Back again starting on the weekend of June 22, 2002 is the Squamish Mountain Bike Festival located in Squamish B.C., a half hour drive north of Vancouver on the Sea to Sky Highway.
Traditional highlights include the 67 kilometre (41 mile), 1200 metre (3600 ft.) gain Test of Metal cross-country race (June 23rd), Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company North American Trials Championship Series (June 24th), and the Invitational Freeride Dash for Cash (June 24th).

Added last year for both sexes piloting rigs over 31 pounds, the Test of Metal features a category for those wishing to rip up the course on their freeride machines. Also single-speed jockeys of both sexes are accommodated in their own categories.

Spot cash prizes of $100 are handed out to the first man and woman at designated points on the course and the first 25 men and 10 women across the finish line are awarded between $300 and $40.

To keep the party rolling, events around the race run through-out the weekend and include, the Greg Gardner GM Inter-Galactic Chariot Races (June 22nd), Test of Metal Dance (evening of June 23rd), and The Mini-Metal Race (for the kids, June 24th).
