AUDIO INTERVIEW INSIDEThe 24 bicycles booth was filled with the usual crazies showcasing some of the sweetest bikes built for the genuine enthusiast. Most notable was 24’s Le Dude, their megla-adjustable single pivot squishy frameset. Beautifully constructed, the bike’s travel is easily changed from 5.5 – 6.9 inches, and the head tube angles and BB height are also easily changed by moving the shock’s location. The bike easily fits a 24 x 3.0 tire with tons of clearance. First production runs sold out before bikes hit the floor, so if you’ve got one on your wish list, better let your shop know soon, lest you miss the chance to own one of these beauties.

The Le Toy III was given some very subtle changes for 2003 including bent seat stays, instead of last year’s cut and welded design. The downtube was also tweaked, giving it a tiny bit more overlap at the headtube junction for increased strength and rigidity. It’s details like these that make 24 bikes one of the industry’s leaders in the core hardtail market.
Seen in the booth, but with no firm production plans was the Girlie Frame, a full squish frameset built for (who else?) the woman in the enthusiast’s life. It seems the boys at 24 and their friends wanted a bike for their girlfriends who weren’t necessarily “hardcore”, but still appreciated a bike that rode well and this frameset is a product of that desire.
Also present in the booth was this prototype hardtail from newly formed Berta Cycles. Designed and built by Mathieu Albert, former welder for Balfa Cycles, the hardtail is still in development, with no plans for production until 2004.
