AUDIO INTERVIEW INSIDE

Magura, with what has to be the largest brake family on the market, has added to the brood and tweaked the existing lineup. New this year is the Louise FR, that like the Louise features a dual piston fixed caliper, radial master piston and alloy brake levers in a stealthy black anodised package and 180mm rotors.

Manitou Postmount 74 version is also being offered for 2003. On the XC side, there's the Marta SL with a one piece caliper, carbon brake lever and wave rotor design that comes in at just 324 grams.

For the DH scene, Magura's war-horse, the Gustav-M, has been tweaked by beefing up the master cylinder, increasing the reservoir size and adding a split clamp design that facilitates easy brake removal and installation. Standard rotors are 190mm front and 160mm rear, but 210mm front and 190mm rear options are available.

Magura's lineup of Rond forks will once again be available to the North American market in the form of the Quake CP125, Quake Air O24U (100mm) and Big (185mm travel) and Mid (140mm travel) Egos. All Quakes offer stainless steel drop out inserts and the CP125 features what Magura calls flightcontrol, an on-the-fly travel adjustment (for those of you who can chew gum and ride at the same time) that changes travel anywhere from 125mm to 85mm with the twist of a dial.
