PRESS RELEASE: Bootleg Canyon Gravity Racing

Bootleg Canyon Gravity Racing has been listening to feedback from our racers and we wish to introduce to you a brand new event on the weekend of November 6 and 7, 2021. We proudly bring you the Race the Face Enduro presented by DVO Suspension.

The Race the Face Enduro will consist of 3-stages all down the face of Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City, Nevada. This enduro race will be 3 full-on DH runs with no pedally sections and quite a bit more gnarly than your average Enduro race. Pretty much what you expect for Bootleg Canyon. No one will say the stages were too easy.

Saturday will be open practice with shuttle service provided from 10-4 and all will get 1 shuttle run to the start on Sunday. After that, it is a show-n-go format for stages 2 and 3 and you must pedal back up to the top to get to those stages. The final stage will finish in the vendor lot for a World Cup-like finish. Racecourses will not be released until the Thursday before the event.

A huge thanks go out to the late Brent Thomson for having the vision, passion, strength, and friends for making these mountain bike trails. Also, not possible without the Boulder City Parks Department, DVO Suspension, All Mountain Cyclery, ODI Grips, Trucker Co, Mynesweeper, Intense Cycles, MJT Designs, and Box Components.

There has been a slight change to keep this a true Enduro event, my apologies. There will be shuttles on Saturday only for open practice. On Sunday, you must pedal to the start of all 3 stages. I asked Pinkbike if they could make the edit shortly after it was published.

What trails at Bootleg Canyon are on the Face? I've only tried riding Ginger once, and I never want to try to ride anything near that level of gnar ever again.

Snakeback, Reaper, Diva, Armageddon, Love Canal, and others are DH trails on the face of Bootleg Canyon. Ginger is off the charts gnar and we would not use that in a race. Sounds like you went to Bootleg and looked for the gnarliest of the gnar. The bottom half of the trails just mentioned are 30mph+ for a good mile on some of them. Please come back as we like riders like you. Ha-ha.

I only own a DH bike, will you have to pedal the whole way back up the hill two times and will the stages be DH bike friendly?

this should be good, all face runs are DH bike friendly

Hmm. I would have thought an event called "Race the Face" would have been sponsored by someone other than DVO.....

DVO is Mike’s main sponsor and it’s called race the face because everyone calls that side of Bootleg “the face”.

@2wheeltyler: yes I am aware of both of those facts. Clearly the internet is not the place for sarcasm.
