Press Release: One Vision MTBOne Vision MTB is a UK based racing program that focuses on young rider development, owned and managed by World Cup racer and coach Jack Reading. The race team competes on the world circuit, with factory support from SR Suntour and Commencal, and in 2020 we signed Dan Slack to the program. Dan had previously raced one season of downhill after leaving motorbike trials for a new challenge and raced his second year in junior and his first season on the World Cup circuit with the team in 2020. Dan had an excellent season, finishing 2nd place at World Championships in Leogang and 5th place in the World Cup overall. Following this success, Dan stays with One Vision MTB for 2021 as he moves up into the elite ranks.
The team has signed a new rider for 2021, youth category racer Josh Lancett-Edwards. Josh is 15 years old and will ride with the team in the UK on training and testing days, as well as at UK races, in order to gain valuable experience before moving to Junior in 2022 and racing World Cups for the first time. One Vision MTB is committed to helping young riders like Josh best prepare themselves for the step up from UK racing to world level competition, and without the support from our partner sponsors, SR Suntour and Commencal, this would not be possible.
The 2020 World Cup season was a tough one for Jack, badly spraining both ankles in a huge crash during practice at round 1 in Maribor, and having to struggle through the 4 weeks of back to back races injured. Despite this, he managed to battle on and finish with 34th place in the overall and 23rd at the final round which was a solid season. 2021 is his 12th season racing World Cup downhill and he's prepared and excited to get between the tape. Working alongside Dan Slack, the team has a great combination of youth and experience, so we're very excited to see how the pair get on at the races this year. Staying with the team for 2021 is mechanic Elliot Bond, who had his first year with One Vision MTB in 2020 when he learnt the ropes of the World Cup mechanic role. Elliot is very hard working and the riders are pleased to have him in their corner again for the new season.
The team has a very busy racing calendar scheduled for the 2021 season. We will compete in the full World Cup downhill series where Jack and Dan will be pushing for top 20 results on their Commencal Supreme 29/27.5 race bikes. We will also race 5 rounds of the Enduro World Series in Val Di Fassa, La Thuile and Innerleithen, on our Commencal Meta AM enduro bikes which will also be set up as 29/27.5 using the Williams Racing mullet link. The team will attend the domestic British National Series rounds and the National Championships where the riders will be aiming for podium finishes.
As well as racing, One Vision MTB is planning a number of race training clinics in the UK for young riders to attend. These clinics will give aspiring young racers, both male and female, the chance to spend time with the team where they can ask questions about racing at the highest level as well as get on track and ride with Jack, Dan and Josh. The aim here is to give these young racers a look at what goes into the training and preparation that is required to race at the top level of the sport. More information about these days will be available on our social media outlets in the coming months.
Our race season will kick off at Fort William in May for World Cup Rd 1. Jack and Dan are training hard both on and off the bike, and after a trip to visit Commencal in April to work on bike setup at their new test track, they will be ready to battle on the famous Nevis Range track when the 2021 season gets underway. As ever, a huge thank you to the team's supporting brands! Without their sponsorship none of our activities would be possible:
SR Suntour, Commencal Bikes, O'Neal, Halo Wheels, Gusset Components, Schwalbe Tyres, Rock Guardz, Works Components, Trail Tools, Crank Brothers, Kingud Products, Fit4racing, Polaris Bike Wear, Magura and TY Bike Products
See you at the races!
