by Czech Enduro Series

The 2020 season started little bit on the wild side. Plans for venues and racing were big but Covid-19 changed everything and put things on hold. At first, it looked like all the races were going to be postponed until late summer but the situation got better fast and the 8th season of Czech Enduro Series could start with its first Giant Enduro Race Klínovec, which was also EWS Qualifier Event!

Ore Mountains are known for their harsh weather, which stayed with us the whole week of preparation and even on race day. Rain and mud turned the race into a survival challenge but at the same time it brought lots of experiences to racers. As last year, there were 5 stages ready for Race category, 4 stages for Hobby category and 3 stages for Kids.

Race day for the kids' categories Grom & Rookie was held on Saturday, which ran without a single drop of water, but the mud, slimy roots and slippery rocks stayed from the previous days. The race day wasn't easy but everybody made it down with big smiles on their faces.

Sunday was race day for the grown-ups and the downpour started right at the start of the first group of riders and would not stop the whole day. There was even a quick thunder storm that stopped the chair lift for a bit. The level difficulty was raising with the amount of rain and made all the rides to reach for their best mud riding skills.

Stage 1 was kind of an enduro warm up winding up in the forest between trees with some steep sections and slippy roots. Two thirds were same as last year but for the last third we prepared and a different more demanding ending. Stage 2 was prolonged as well with a couple different sections compared to last year and it was by far the most difficult and steep stage of all.

Stage 3 was more mellow than the previous one but with loads of mud and water that didn't leave any rider with a dry bottom. Stage 4 was the easiest with loads of loam spraying in every corner where riders could show their pumping and cornering skills.

Stage 5 was the last one. 100% pure bikepark track with big rocks and slimy roots everywhere that did not leave any space for mistakes. The huge rock garden at the bottom of the course was just a cherry on the top.
