The inaugural event provided riding events of all varieties including enduro, gravel, the first ever UK leg of the Bosch eMTB Challenge supported by Trek, and notably the first ever two-day uplifted enduro in the UK - the Transcend Epic.

Riders arrived from around the world to take part in the nine different events held across the weekend. All were treated to some true Scottish weather conditions which opened up the competition in the hotly anticipated Transcenduro, round two of TweedLove’s Triple Crown race series. It was Wide Open mag’s Christo Gallagher who beat the pros to claim a surprise men’s top spot ahead of the big guns and Orbea’s Bex Baraona took 20 seconds out of three-time World Champ Tracy Moseley to get the fastest time of the day for the women.

Fastest 3 females;
1 – Bex Baraona (Senior) | Ibis Cycles Enduro Team – 21:23.63
2 – Tracy Moseley (Master) | Trek/T-Mo Racing – 21:48.64
3 – Becky Cook (Senior) | Orbea Enduro Team – 21:48.87

The big highlight across the weekend for many was the Transcend Epic - a new enduro format for the UK which saw riders get two days of uplifted blind enduro racing across 13 stages in four of the Valley’s forests. It was local racer Thomas Mitchell that took the win with over 64 minutes of race time on the clock, but the racing went hand in hand with the vibe of enjoying two massive days out on the bike. “It was awesome, we’ve covered so many more tracks than you ever could in a normal race. It’s been brilliant – it’s the future of enduro,” said one of the riders.

But the festival wasn’t just about the competition. Thousands of others turned out to experience all of the entertainment that was on offer in the festival village; live music, DJ’s, the Frog Bikes Kids Adventure Zone, Tempest Brewing Co’s Beerfest tent, the Pumptrack, the Street Food Village as well as over 700 demoing bikes from the 30 different brands across the weekend.

The new festival format was a true success providing loads to do on and off the bike with many hoping the event will become a permanent feature in the calendar. “We are in awe of what TweedLove have just pulled off. They certainly did raise the bar and wow what an amazing weekend. There was something for everyone and a great atmosphere all around. We can’t wait for next year,” said one of the riders.

Joe, we did a lot of work to the trails before the event, and we'll be inspecting and repairing afterwards too - just to let you know what actually happens. At this point we're still clearing tape and signage - we're a very small team. I think to suggest we haven't contributed to this area is a long way off the mark though, and as for raking in the cash? You're even further off it I'm afraid!

If your doing some repairs to trails after the race then fair play, the damage that gets done at wet races is pretty catastrophic so ensuring trails are rideable is not an unreasonable request.

@joe444: Tweedlove do a lot of trailwork locally.

So send thousands or riders down volunteer built trails in super wet conditions, rake in the cash, leave said trail builders to clean up the destruction! Love the notion just want to something meaningful given back to the riding area!

@joe444 I get what your saying but the team are small but do put something back into the trails. Unfortunately the riders taking "enduro" lines are the ones that are wrecking the trails. That first photo shows a tight cut line rather than sticking to the fast flowy line. Riders were straight lining corners right at the start of that trail and all down that trail even though there was tape albeit pegged low in the berm - riders just rode over it. Maybe those riders should hang there head in shame with there Strava line choices. Most of the trails in the valley are well bedded in now and can take a good thrashing, Angry Sheep trail however is trashed by mindless riding...

@Canonboy: you are completely correct that Strava lines are pathetic and those riders need to take a long hard look at their skill level before claiming any legitimate trophies. The wider picture here I guess is the idea that the trails are taken for granted and are seen (not just by tweedlove, but other mtb focused businesses and weekend punters alike) as something that has magically appeared and therefore can be used in any way they choose without needing to contribute. For a valley full of over 200 hand cut trails you can count the number of trail builders that have made a significant contribution without running out of hands, so anyone who uses them (especially for financial gain) should at least leave them as they found them.

Well maybe its a prime time, to collaborate with the local trail builders, they clearly deserve some credit for thier time and efforts... Acknowledging thier skills, time and effort is imperative, as is the post maintenance to ensure quality and safety,of the trails to continue with awesome events like this...

This is definitely something to think about next year, get the local trail builders involved more, work together instead of creating conflict... It would be a shame to have any malice within the mtb community... were not about that..????‍♀️...

As with everything, teething problems arise with anything new, so we learn from it... Im sure next year will be even better, it was an absolute epic event, well organised, brilliant facilities, awesome atmosphere.. Thanks to all involved itvwas wicked ????

where are you getting this idea there is conflict? From what I have heard there is already collaboration, and Tweedlove have organised trail maintenance and litter pick up sessions throughout the year...

Absolutely Sick Event! Thanks to everyone at Tweedlove, the YDTM Syndicate will be back next year for sure.

That sucks, surely there is something going to the local trail builders!!

The epic was such a good event and so slick and well organised... I'm sure next year it will be sold out very quickly!

Great event and an even better race, hopefully next time it's not monsoon season. Big love to the organisers and marshals.
