Video: Yannick Romswinckel's Practice What You Preach

As a rider and sport-psychologist, this project was a very interesting experience for me. Over the course of the last two years I found myself learning tricks, that I wouldn't have ever expected myself to do anymore. Whilst having less time due to work and postgradual training, I made sure to be in the right space with my body and mind when riding. Thereby using the same techniques that I provide to my athletes as a sport- psychologist and mental trainer for a german football club and individual athletes from DH and Slopestyle. I noticed a steady increase in self-trust that resulted in me thinking about new tricks. As a rider that comes from dirt jumping, extension tricks and mainly No-Foot-Tricks, squeezing 3 Barspins into a 360 or working on double rotations was and (obviously still) is a real challenge for me. However, it sparked trust in abilities and made experiences I'm super thankful for.

Good preparation, the right focus and patience enabled me to safely land the stuff I had in mind whilst having a lot of fun throughout the process. Today, I ride better than I ever did, although I’d consider my active time as a sponsored and competitive rider long gone. However, it’s funny how work and life have merged in a new way, and if my own riding can benefit from that, I’ll take it for sure!

When COVID hit, our team put all efforts into our homespot, trying to make the Bembelbahn attractive again to us and fellow riders. We spent so many hours digging and came up with very enjoyable lines. Actually, we’re not where we’d hoped to be by now and are still waiting for the final approval from the city to enlarge our roll-ins, as we could use just a little more speed. But, as with this edit and project, we’ll be patient and focus on what the spot has already brought into our lives. Thanks to everyone involved in shaping, riding and filming!!! Thank also to you guys for tuning in from all around the world and maybe see you one day at the Bembelbahn (or at any other spot).

Cheers, Yannick
