awesome starters race bike, good to build upon since it is starting off with last seasons team downhill frame, the suspension is set up very well with the dhx 3.0 and the boxxer for a smooth ride in the rock gardens and in the roots, but lets you use power when you need to without feeling like ur riding couch

Picked up a 2010 model for £1650, was sprung perfectly for my weight (85kg) straight out the box. Adjusted rebound and rear preload, stuck some wider bars on and was perfect from 1st ride.
Componentry is adequate rather than great but al works well, no problems to report, suspension bedded in nicely as have the juicy threes.
Great bike for the money.

For the 2005 atomik: This is a very light bike! It handles very well and is not bulky. I've found it's awesome for trail riding, but if your gonna ride in places like whistler I would have to recommend an A-Line. Mine is stock except for Grips,Stem, and Seat. I also am replacing the bars as they are to short for me. (Hussfelt I believe).

This bike is great! I bought this frame new as a last years model for dirt cheap. The next day after building it, I entered a dh race and it felt super solid! A week after that I went on a trip to Whistler to see what this product can really handle. I will be honest, with the low price I was worried about the quality. First day it held up wonderfully on the mountain. Second day and then the third day on the mountain and still no issues. I took this thing on double blacks and the largest drops I could find and not one break. The only thing I found annoying which is really nothing at all, was the side bars around the shock. The matte finish wore off and now its a smooth glossy finish. After torturing this thing on the mountain I decided to hit up the north shore. The bottom bracket height on its "low" setting was perfect! I could float right down the most technical lines without clipping any of the drops beneath me. It is low enough for the stability needed at high speeds but high enough for the clearance needed. I definitly suggest this bike as you can not go wrong with a bike like this with such a low price tag.

Fantastic fun bike at a great price!!!!!!
Bought this bike as a tester for downhilling but it is as good as many much more expensive bikes. The spec is good but gives great scope for upgrades but the frame is mint. The bike is as it says race ready out of the box if a bit heavy, the only down side I have with the bike is it's a heavy slog going uphill but it is worth it for the run back down.
This is probably one of the best buys in the bike world.

I abused mine to shit. Took a jump a little off and when into a tree. Wheel was bent, I was bent, bike was fine after my bike shop put a new wheel on it and checked the frame over. Probably the best entry downhill bike out there. I still prefer my 2002 Atomik though (on appearence only).

very nice DH bike. never owned one, but have ridden it. very plush suspension al round on a solid, hard-as-nails frame. brakes are certainly powerful enough for all your riding needs.
only cons i can think of for this bike is the rather short seat tube, which means if you want to plant the saddle right down into the frame then you either cant or the seat post needs shortening.

however, on the whole, a very nice bike for anyone already into, or trying to get into, DH mtb'ing.

Its the sweetest bike ever for DH. Rides nice and smooth i didn't have an 08 but i had an 06. i worked it hard road it lots it was awesome for jumping road gaps, drops, roots, rocks and rock shoots the usual DH. good bike for shore trails as well. but i guess the ride also depends on the rider not the bike. i wouldn't recommend this to a beginner to DH. it is little harder to ride for inexperienced riders.

I ride an older model of the Atomik, but I love the bike to death. I almost died riding it too =D.

Super solid frame, rides nice and gives that tight feel to your ride. Frame itself is tough as hell, hit a tree on mine at 30kph and had no ill effect done to the bike.

Only downfall I can note is that the frame from front to back feels slightly short for me (6'1"). Also that the frame is really heavy, but with strength comes weight I guess.

Definatley recommend this bike just because it is a great all round freeride and DH bike. I own one and the only problem I've had is it's rear shock geometry, when you go off jumps, it boosts the back up high. I have an 06 model and it's great. Couldn't be happier.

Great bike for DH or the FR park with the adjustable travel. Only thing is, the geometry of the rear shock pushes you way up in the air making it a little harder to take those high speed, low angle turns just because you can't get down on the bike. On the plus side, bounces of everything and keeps on truckin' and at the same time isn't as heavy as you'd expect a bike like this to be.

my dad has this bike, i rode it for 2 months when my bike was broken and i love it, he paid about $2500, you cant really get a better bike for that price, its got the frame of the 07 team dh which was like a $6000 bike. and the components are pretty decent to, the whole bike is like the price of alot of dh frames so its alot smarter to buy a bike like this and upgrade it
