Kona calls this their enduro/freeride bike, but if you want a freeride bike from Kona go with the stinky deluxe. The coilair is actually an all mountain bike but it still rips up the downhills and devours the uphills. I demoed one today and I must say that the tires are a little small in width, but thats usual for an all mountain bike. I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone who needs to go up and down the hill equally.

I don't need flashy just something solid, dependable and predictable. This is a solid Bike. Climbs pretty good (a little heavy but you gotta pay more for lighter stuff!), descends great, handles slow tech really well, jumps not to badly either. Magic link is seamless cannot feel it doing it's thing at all. I'd easily recommend it for the price.

I have the 08 model and it's excellent. It's feels like a downhill bike while going down or jumping and u can still manage to go uphill easily. It's a very good do it all bike.
The only downside is the frame flex. But its no big deal u almost don't notice it.

P.S. I've changed the stem to a shorter one and the suspension to a coil Pike 454.

My first bike, bought end of season 2009. Lives up to the name of a do-all bike. Minor problems that should be expected, brakes were a bit light, wore some parts out. The Marzocchi fork has had a couple issues. I'm a big guy, around 225lb and I've taken the bike in the park, XC'd all the local terrain and humped it around Moab. It climbs great for a heavy bike, decends well. All in all it has been a great bike.

does what it is supposed to do, the magic link works perfectly up and down...around quebec where we are it is pretty much all steep up and down and this thing cleans everything with ease Wink

This is the bike I own it has got many custom parts built on and also has a green frame instead of red! I think if you buy this bike 2008 model then you should really replace the fork if your planning on going downhill.

Bought a new 2009 leftover for $1K & just started riding it this spring(2011). Climbs, descends & jumps excellent. Not too heavy & just enough travel for hitting it in the woods.

Got ths for a great deal on Chain Reaction Cycles, stands up to all kinds of abuse on downhill, the magic link starts to squeak but this can be fixed with a bit of lube. Perfect deal though for only $1500
