 They are great forks. I have bottomed out once but that was on a bail. i love how you can change how stiff it is. i don't use the lockout though. the description says xc/trail fork, but i use it for everything i do. i ride some pretty gnarly stuff on the fork. big hits, steep chutes, anything i can find. yeah manitou!

 Very nice fork. The 100mm fits fantastically. It also has a setting which prevents you from losing pedaling power to the squishing of the fork. And I like the fact that you can fit a v-brake or a disc brake. Sweet fork.

Manitou2011 Match Comp (MSRP $0) — A great fork communicates everything that's happening between your tire and trail. At this price point there's no MATCH for this ultra stiff 32mm stanchioned, coil sprung, xc/trail fork. Torsional rigidity, damper curves that sing and that butter smooth Manitou feel.

Compression - This is the damping circuit that absorbs the compression energy force on the damper. Compression damping is used to adjust how quickly a fork or rear shock compresses when hitting a bump, and is adjustable on some products. When compression damping is too soft, this condition allows most of the available travel to be used without attaining control of the wheel. When it's adjusted too firmly, the wheel will jump or "dance" about when hitting small bumps, again failing to gain control of the wheel.
