The one on my bike is pretty short-travel, for use with 4-bar suspension. It does a pretty good job for what it is. Of course, it's not nearly as plush as a coil-spring setup, but it's fairly adjustable for being so affordable.

The Monarch 3.3 is the OEM version of the great Monarch 4.2 shock. The Monarch RT3(2011-up) is only a slight improvement....but at a huge price increase. You can still find the 3.3/4.2 at below $100. Trek XC Pros Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Brain Eatough raced this shock(3.3) in the 2010 Season, with great success.

I like the way it feels but I have had problems with the rebound knob. It has spent time in the shop b/c of the knob getting stuck, twice.

Came stock on my AM1000. Multiple adjustments. Can either be super plush or completely locked out.
